I will be in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, for “Unlock the Summer” Saturday June 5, 2010.

Wildlife Fine Art 2009 in Japan

I was extremely honoured to be chosen as one of 14 international artists whose works were presented at the Wildlife Fine Art 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. The exhibit was held at the Machida Municipal International Fine Arts Museum from the period April 29 to May 4, 2009.

The focus of the exhibit was to bring attention to the Japan Wildlife Centre
(jwc-web.org/top.html).
A picture of my work entitled “A Perfect World” was included in the promotional cover material for the exhibit - another great privilege for me. As well a beautiful coffee table book was produced for the exhibit showing all works. The goals and ideals of the Japan Wildlife Centre are something very dear and near to me (bringing international attention to the natural environment and animal protection) and I hope to spread this message in my works (and this blog). Finally, I note that under the category "Wildlife View Shop" on the Japan Wildlife Centre's website, a recommended painting is Siberian Mist by Michael Pape. I cannot thank the Japan Wildlife Centre enough.

New Pencil Drawing

I have done a new series of large pencil drawings of an Arctic Wolf, a Cougar and soon to come, a Polar Bear. The originals are done on Arches 300 lb. 23” x 30 “ watercolour paper. Once framed, all pieces are 39.5” x 47” and have a large impact in almost any room. The Arctic wolf in this drawing above may look familiar to viewers that know Michael’s work. It is the same Arctic Wolf from his painting “Beautiful Dreamer”. This original Arctic Wolf drawing is sold, as well as the cougar that can be seen on www.theartofmichaelpape.com

As said above there will be a new Polar Bear to follow. Collectors are welcome to inquire.

Wild Horses of the Outer Banks NC

In October of 2009 I travelled to study the Wild Horses of the Outer Banks, North Carolina. These horses are a very vulnerable as they have no protection and are owned by no one. They are very trusting of humans and often get very close. Sadly several have been taken advantage of causing death by very cruel means. My hope is to do a painting(s) to show the incredible beauty of these horses. As well to raise awareness, that they need strict protection so they can live and run free for generations to come. As for now they have no protection at all.
